I worked on a story on coal mining about 7 years ago in Dhanbad, in the state of Jharkhand. I had made a couple of trips there and spent about 4 weeks working on this story. I had great difficulty in getting access and spent hours and hours everyday speaking to officials. Somehow with and without their permission, I managed to get into quite a few places.
I returned just a few weeks back to the same area to see how the place had changed and also to photograph some things that were missing in my earlier story. I would like to make another trip there soon.  Here's a selection of photos but will add more as I edit.

Here are a few more. Not sure which one works best. Back in the darkroom tomorrow.  I wish I had a decent film scanner. As much as I enjoy being in the darkroom, it would be nice to just scan the negatives.

Coal Mining

Back in the darkroom. My friend and I re-edited all the contact sheets of my coal mining project in India. Here are a few new prints but more to come.
