Coney Island

Summer is around the corner but will probably take a little longer here in London. I started to think about Coney Island and the time I lived in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. I lived in a small one bedroom apartment off of 3rd Ave. and Bond Street from 1999-2004 and in the summers I would ride my bike over to Coney Island and just hang out there for a few hours.

  2. Coney Island opens this weekend!
Its a different one now then when you took these pictures. (the pictures look about 60 years old - don't know how you managed that).
Half of Coney is closed now and tons of construction for luxury apartments. Imagine luxury apartments in the background of these beautiful pictures you took.
The only thing that remains is the bike ride out there - all five of us do it now, Satya on my handlebars. And of course the cyclone - as rickety and scary as ever. Come to NY and ride with us.

Srini, love looking at your pictures and hearing your voice below them.

It's probably travelled 10,000 miles, across the country and back again a few times; and now it hangs on my wall here in Brooklyn Just a few stops on the Q from where you captured it. I love the private enthusiasm of the gesticulating shadow, which always reminds me of my own brother.
